Cultivate, Waltham Forest Council’s Joe Swift to open Cultivate, Waltham Forest Council's urban food growing festival

Urban Food Growing Festival – 21-30 March 2014

 Garden designer, journalist and television personality Joe Swift  will officially open Waltham Forest Council’s urban food growing festival this Friday 21st March at Leytonstone Library, 6 Church Lane, Leytonstone E11 1HG  at 5.30pm.

Joe is a key presenter on BBC Gardeners World, co-anchor of The RHS Chelsea Flower Show and author of three published books including Joe’s Allotment – planning and planting a productive plot.

Joe will join Councillor Clyde Loakes, Waltham Forest Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment and Rosie Boycott, Chair of the London Food Board,  at the Grow Waltham Forest Conference marking the launch of Cultivate, Waltham Forest Council’s first urban food growing festival.  Other inspirational leaders in the urban food growing sector, will include Mary Clear from Incredible Edible Todmorden, alongside the local Waltham Forest voices of Organiclea and Transition Leytonstone.

Cllr Clyde Loakes, who is championing the initiative for Waltham Forest says:

“We are delighted that Joe will be joining us to support the event. There is an exciting week planned and we want to make the most of all the opportunities there are in the borough to grow food and encourage local people to get involved.”
